John’s Music STURM

 

John Sturm moved from the Pittsburgh area to Hilton Head Island 30 years ago..  Originally in the tennis business as a teaching pro and shop owner, he took over Jack’s Music in 2001. John Plays mandolin, guitar, and ukulele, but his first love is blues harmonica, favoring the songs of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Wells, etc. He has played in various bands around the Island for the last 15 years.

John sold the store to Scott Evans in June 2010 but remains on as consultant, mentor and general gadabout.

 

 

After Graduating from Alfred University in 1990, Scott began his business career as a purchasing buyer for several manufacturing companies ranging from ready to assemble furniture, rail road car cushioning devices,  rail car parts and accessories, surface mount electronic components for the US military and lastly injection molded plastics for automobile manufacturers.  Desiring to make a entire lifestyle change and make a difference in young people’s lives, he went on to coach football for Hilton Head Island High School for a few years before buying the store from John in June of 2010.  He had been playing guitar since he was 13 and always had a love for music and gear, so becoming a music store owner became a great passion for him.  Scott has played guitar in multiple pop, hard rock and metal cover, as well as original, bands since the early 1990’s.
